Make Sparks Fly

A couple years ago, a friend of mine gave me a Kate Spade bracelet for Christmas. Amazing, right? Although I absolutely adore the brand, it wasn't the actual bracelet that touched me. At the time, I had been feeling a bit held back at work and it was pretty discouraging. My friend was so thoughtful, she inscribed on the inside "This Is Your Year To Make Sparks Fly." It was the inspiration and love I needed to dig down deep and keep grinding in a career I knew was very difficult to "make it" in. Every year, when December begins, I always think back to that moment and feel so inspired and cheerful. I want all of you to feel the same way. After all, December has arrived and its your time to shine ladies! This is a month where you can drench yourself in faux fur, sparkles or sequins and indulge in fun, fizzy cocktails or champagne. It's your month and a brand new year is ahead, so let's make those sparks fly!

Need some inspiration? Below, I've put together a festive round-up to get you into the holiday spirit! Think festive cocktails, desserts, holiday outfits and decorations. I've also included some beautiful pieces from the Fashion Truck that you can rock at your Christmas shindigs, of course you can shop all of our new arrivals here.

This blush faux fur stocking from West Elm will be hanging up in my home this year. I wasn't in the market for a new one, but when I saw it, I couldn't resist.

Jacquelyn Clark of Lark & Linen created the most delicious, festive cocktail known to man/woman. I made it for a few girlfriends of mine and it was a total hit! It's like a warm hug and a Christmas party in your mouth. Refill, anyone?

Party dress alert! Save yourself hours at the mall and wear the Rising Sun Slip Dress by Free People to your next get together. The plunging v-neck style is super sexy and the dress just pops thanks to the sequin details. Are you loving this piece? Well, you're in luck, we still have a few available on the truck.

I'm obsessed with these Mini Peppermint Cheesecake tarts. They're light and fluffy but have a major punch of flavour. These little desserts are perfect for a larger soirée; you don't need a plate and the recipe makes about 24. You can double up and have everyone covered. Easy peasy.

Need an outfit for a holiday party but don't want to overdo it? This blush turtle neck with a touch of sparkle is perfection! Throw on this Duster Cardigan in heather grey and your set. We also have a wide selection of chokers and gorgeous jewellery by Lisbeth if you need accessories to put it all together.

My husband and I always make a big deal of decorating our Christmas tree. We always try to make it special and spend the entire day together watching Christmas movies in our pj's and putting decorations on the tree and around our home. It always puts me in such a good mood and I look forward to it every year. Even though Ryan's a pretty tall dude, he always saves the star for me to put on top of the tree. I love him for that.

If this outfit doesn't get you inspired for the holidays, I'm not sure what will. Julia Engel of Gal Meets Glam nailed it this time! I'd love to ring in the New Year wearing this much sparkle, so fab!

Ever been to Her Majesty's Pleasure? Their manicures are an absolute dream. I know I'll be treating myself to this Glitter Ombré manicure and one of their signature Christmas cocktails. Yes, the spa has a full bar and café as well. Grab your girlfriends, because this place is legit.

Red Velvet Christmas cookies are a must-have in my household around this time of year. They are festive and oh so yummy! Skip the grocery-store bought cookies, roll up your sleeves and whip up a batch for yourself. These cookies also make for a nice hostess gift,  it's a really thoughtful gesture and it will go a long way with a friend or family member.

I'd love to be curled up by this fireplace with a hot chocolate, blankets and Christmas music playing in the background. Idyllic.

Even though a faux tree is better for the environment, there is something so special about having a real tree in your home. Picking out a real tree is such a fun day date with a friend or loved one. The fresh balsam smell is also heavenly around the holidays. I would be getting one this year, but my dog would totally nibble on it, and its just not worth it lol.
